New Club Projects

Conservation Projects:

Soda and Soup Tabs

Members continue collecting soda and soup can tabs for the Shriners. These tabs are solid aluminum and are redeemed at a recycling center. Proceeds go to provide transportation to Shriners Hospitals for needy children and their parents, free of charge, by bus, train, air or MedFlight when necessary.

Postage Stamps

Used postage stamps are now also being collected. We donate ours to St. Matthew’s Church, who in turn sends them to Perkins School for the Blind.

Earth Day

This year the Club participated in Acton’s tenth Earth Day celebration on May 3, 2008 at St. Matthew’s Church on Central Street. Winterberry shrubs were sold to the community. Fliers describing the shrub and planting instructions were provided. Also, in keeping with our concern for the environment, the Club sold reusable ‘Fold- A-Tote’ grocery or carrying bags. Information was available regarding Club membership and the upcoming plant sale.
