Professionally trained floral designer and Japanese flower arranger. Board member of Ikebana International and the Boston Chapter of the Sogetsu School. She is also a member of the Ikenobo Society of Boston.

The Acton Garden Club wins awards at the Fall Conference:

The prestigious Laura Wetmore Conservation bowl, a New England Region award of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., was awarded to the Acton Garden Club for their spectacular exhibit on Lyme Disease Education
Maureen Christmas won the Four Star Award after successfully completing all four of the schools offered by the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts

February 5       ‘Chinese Garden Tour’ - A Slide Lecture
After looking at modern Shanghai with its urban renewal, we will travel through the Yangtze River Delta while also traveling back in time to visit the vernacular landscape of Jingxi (1130), a Chinese ‘Venice.’
with Lynette Tsiang
Landscape gardener who received her design certificate from the Landscape Institute. In 2005 she toured classical Chinese gardens.

July 9       A Visit to a Railway Garden
Debbie and Stan Ames have created a miniature train landscape that travels through their lovely gardens.
with Debbie and Stan Ames, Debbie and Stan are both life members of the National Model Railroad Association where Stan has been active in the creation of the DCC Standards and Recommended Practices’ guidelines. Debbie is an avid gardener and the owner of ‘Tried & True Trains’ a model railroad business.
Leave from the Acton Center Fire Station to carpool at 9:00am
Bring sunscreen and wear walking shoes and a hat.

Historic Waltham Field Trip to the Lyman Estate and the Robert Treat Paine Estate
The Lyman Greenhouses are among the oldest surviving greenhouses in the United States. The complex of four greenhouses consist of an 1804 grape house, an 1820 camellia house, an 1840 orchid house and a 1930 sales greenhouse. Also visit the mansion with its 37 acres of lawns and gardens.
Next drive up the road a bit and view the Robert Treat Paine Estate known as ‘Stonehurst’ set on 109 acres designed in collaboration between architect Henry Hobson Richardson and landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead.
Leave from the Acton Center Fire Station to carpool at 9:00am
Bring sunscreen and wear walking shoes and a hat.
