with Suzanne Mahler
Suzanne Mahler, an avid gardener, photographer and lecturer, will take us on a colorful journey through the year. She will present images of plants that offer a progression of bloom and multiple seasons of interest for a landscape that provides beauty year around.

Anna Holmes, the owner of Flowers by Anna, will give us a floral design demonstration and discussion covering how to plan your design including elements and principles of design. She will also discuss sourcing materials and their care and handling.

    Participants choose to make a swag or a wreath. Base structure and a few decorations will be provided. Bring pruners and a selection of greens. If you have extra greens, please bring them to share. Cost: $10 per base structure.

Rebecca Warner
Rebecca Warner is a home gardener who, like most of us, doesn't have enough time. She will present to us her journey toward sustainable gardening. Rebecca will describe her time saving methods to make compost, make soil, prepare beds for annuals and vegetables, and give us an easy recipe for making non-peat potting mix for containers.

March 6       'Ikebana Floral Demonstration'
with Joanne Caccavale Joanne Caccavale will provide a brief history of Ikebana, the Art of Japanese Flower Arranging, including the different schools, their concepts and styles. We will also enjoy a teaching demonstration of the basic styles of Sogetsu School as she shows us the use of different plant material, containers and mechanics.

Evelyn Lee is a flower farmer and designer at her specialty cut flower farm, Butternut Gardens in CT. She will give us tips and information for floral culture and harvesting as well as varieties to add to our landscape to ensure garden-inspired floral designs.

Guided Tour of Arnold Arboretum

Come along for a guided walking tour of Arnold Arboretum, East Meets West. Since the late 19th century, the Arboretum has been a meeting place for familiar native plants and their Asian cousins. Hear stories about how these plants come together.

Leave from the Acton Center Fire Station to carpool at 8:30am
Bring snack and water; wear comfortable shoes. Tour begins at 10 am
